Do a digital vehicle inspection

Use checklists with photos and green, yellow and red results, then send the report to the customer.

Updated Oct 3, 2026

A digital inspection shows the customer what the technician sees. Every item gets a result: green (good), yellow (needs attention soon) or red (needs attention now). Add photos and notes, and send the customer a clear report they can act on.

Start an inspection

  1. Open the repair order and start an inspection. You can also start one from My Work on a technician's phone.
  2. Pick a template, for example your multi-point or brake inspection. Your default template is preselected.
  3. Work down the checklist. For each item, tap a result and add a note if needed.
  4. Tap the camera icon to add photos or videos. A photo of a worn brake pad does more than a paragraph.
  5. For yellow and red items, add a recommendation and estimated labor hours. This helps the advisor build the estimate.

Finish and hand off

When you're done, click Complete. The advisor is notified and the inspection is marked complete on the repair order. Items marked yellow or red can be turned into estimate jobs with one click.

Send the report to the customer

The advisor reviews the findings, writes a short summary for the customer, and sends the report by text or email. The customer gets a link to a clean, branded report with every photo. You can also click Get customer link to copy the link and share it yourself.

Tip: Send the inspection report together with the estimate. Customers approve more work when they can see the photos.

Templates

Owners and managers can edit checklists under Inspections → Templates. You can add, reorder and remove items, duplicate a template to make a variation, and choose the default.
