Take a payment with a card reader
Set up a counter card reader and charge tap, chip and swipe payments right from the repair order.
With AutoSync Pay, customers can tap, insert or swipe their card at the counter. The payment posts to the repair order automatically, so there's nothing to type in twice.
Before you start
AutoSync Pay must be set up for your shop. An owner sets it up under Settings → Payments. It takes a few minutes and needs your business and bank details for payouts.
Register a card reader
AutoSync works with Stripe card readers (BBPOS WisePOS E, Stripe Reader S700 and S710). If your shop uses Square, it works with Square Terminal.
- Go to Settings → Payments → Card readers.
- On the reader, swipe from the left edge and open Settings, then Generate pairing code.
- In AutoSync, click Register a reader, choose the location and type the registration code.
- Give the reader a name, like "Front counter".
The first reader at a location becomes its default. You can change the default or rename a reader at any time.
Charge a customer
- Open the repair order and click Close (or Add payment to take a deposit).
- Choose Card and click Send to reader.
- The amount shows on the reader. The customer taps, inserts or swipes.
- When the payment is approved, it's recorded on the ticket and a receipt can be texted or emailed.
Heads up: If the reader shows as offline, make sure it's on Wi-Fi and charged, then click Refresh status on the Card readers page.
Other ways to get paid
- Payment links (text-to-pay): send a link the customer pays from their phone. See Send a payment link.
- Cash, check and other: record them on the ticket the same way. They're included in your end-of-day totals.
- House accounts: charge fleet and commercial customers to their account and invoice them later.
